Careers · The Set Org Chart

Who reports to whom on a film set

An interactive map of every job on a film set and who answers to whom, from the executive producer down to the crew. Tap any role to see what it does, what it pays, and how to break into it. Pick a colored department below to see its whole team, or use search to jump straight to a role. Reporting lines follow standard DGA and union convention.

How this chart was verified

Reporting lines were checked against the DGA Assistant Director Training Program, the Producers Guild Code of Credits, union references (IATSE, SAG-AFTRA, Teamsters Local 399), ScreenSkills job profiles, and standard industry hierarchy guides. Where real productions vary, the chart follows the most common U.S. feature convention, and roles that double up on smaller shows (line producer and UPM, costume and wardrobe supervisor) appear once.

Every role, department by department

Every one of the 850 film-career roles, grouped by department. The described roles sit on the chart above; each department also lists its remaining specialist roles. Pick a department to jump to it; tap any role for its full page.
