Two-banger
What is a two-banger?
Also called double banger, or three-banger.
A two-banger is a trailer split into two private rooms, the smaller sibling of the three-banger, used for cast and sometimes for key crew at base camp.
Counting bangers is how a locations team sizes a base camp against the day's cast list, since each unit needs its own footprint, leveling, and power. Their number is agreed with production before the site is committed.
Example
Four supporting cast need private rooms, so two two-bangers go on the base camp plan. Each needs its own footprint, leveling, and power, and counting them is how the site is sized against the day's cast list.
Figures are illustrative, chosen to show the mechanics rather than to quote market rates.
Where you'll see it
Agreed with production and placed on the base camp site plan before the site is committed.
Common mistake
Counting rooms rather than trailers. Each banger needs its own footprint, leveling, and power, and four rooms across two units takes more space than the room count suggests.
Related questions
- How do you decide how many bangers a show needs?
- By counting the day's cast against available rooms, then checking the base camp can physically take that many units with their footprint, leveling, and power.
- How do bangers affect base camp?
- They set its size. Counting the day's cast against available banger rooms is how locations decides whether a site can hold the show.
