828 Productions is a full-service film financing and production company that relocated its headquarters to Las Cruces in 2022 with plans to build a major studio complex. The announced project envisioned a roughly 300,000-square-foot studio with a 20-acre backlot, plus an additional 35 acres of downtown land with existing structures repurposed for soundstage and set-construction space, and the company purchased a 7,500-square-foot downtown office building for training, post-production, and visual effects. The company has supported more than a dozen films shot in and around Las Cruces, including the modern Western Eddington starring Joaquin Phoenix and Emma Stone. However, the city of Las Cruces terminated its incentive partnership in 2025 and is seeking a clawback of funds, leaving the planned full studio build in question.
