Powderhouse Productions is a nonfiction television production company founded in 1994 by Joel Olicker and Tug Yourgrau, who met while producing a documentary for WGBH. Based in Somerville's Davis/Powder House Square area, the company built its reputation over more than two decades producing hit factual series and specials for networks including Discovery Channel, History Channel, PBS, Food Network, Travel Channel and HGTV. Notable programs include Extreme Engineering, Dogs 101 and contributions to NOVA. The company also produces web videos, online series and podcasts alongside its broadcast documentary work.
