Das Filmbüro Nordrhein-Westfalen ist ein gemeinnütziger eingetragener Verein mit dem Ziel, die unabhängige Filmkultur in Nordrhein-Westfalen zu befördern und die Belange unabhängiger Filmschaffender gegenüber Sendern, Förderinstitutionen und Politik zu vertreten. Seit seiner Gründung im Jahr 1980 ist der Verein kontinuierlich gewachsen und hat inzwischen über 200 Mitglieder aus den Bereichen Produktion, Regie, Drehbuch, Kamera, Schnitt, Verleih, Journalismus, Kulturförderung und anderen filmrelevanten Berufsfeldern.
