Tyler Perry Studios is one of the largest film and television production studios in the United States, located in Atlanta, Georgia. Founded by actor, filmmaker, and playwright Tyler Perry in 2006, it made Perry the first African American to outright own a major film production studio. In 2015 Perry acquired 330 acres of the former Fort McPherson Army base, opening the expanded campus in 2019 with numerous sound stages, backlot sets, and a production arm called 34th Street Films that supports other filmmakers. The studio produces Perry's own film and TV slate and hosts outside productions ranging from major studio features to network and streaming series.
