SCAD Savannah Film Studios

Savannah, Georgia(approximate location)

SCAD Savannah Film Studios is the film and television production complex operated by the Savannah College of Art and Design, built around the former Meddin Studios meatpacking-plant facility that SCAD acquired in 2014. The campus houses three traditional soundstages plus a roughly 5,500-square-foot LED volume virtual-production stage opened in 2021, along with lighting grids, postproduction suites, an ADR/Foley recording booth, screening rooms, and production offices. A multi-phase, roughly 11-acre buildout has added a large Hollywood-style backlot and additional commercial-grade soundstages, making it one of the most comprehensive university film studio complexes in the U.S. While primarily serving SCAD students and faculty, the studios and backlot have hosted professional productions such as Todd Haynes' Oscar-nominated film May December.

Run by: Andra Reeve-Rabb — Dean, SCAD School of Film and Acting, D.W. Moffett — Chair of Film and Television, Paula Wallace — SCAD President and Founder

Known for: May December (Todd Haynes) · XO, Kitty · student and professional film/TV projects
