He began his career alongside Jean Frydman, a major figure in French cinema, before joining MK2, where he became president of MK2 Diffusion at just 26 years old. In 1992, Alain Goldman produced the film 1492: Conquest of Paradise , directed by Ridley Scott and starring Gérard Depardieu. On that occasion, he founded the production company Légende Films, marking the beginning of a rich and diverse filmography.
