Scripps Performing Arts Academy (SPAA) was founded in 1987 in the heart of Scripps Ranch, shortly after Angela Amoroso relocated from New York. With a successful school already established on the East Coast, she created SPAA to offer San Diego County families a space for self-expression, personal growth, and a lifelong love of the arts. The academy fosters self-discipline, responsibility, and a strong sense of community. A year after its founding, SPAA proudly presented its inaugural production of The Nutcracker in 1988, beginning a cherished tradition that continues to this day.
