The Culver Studios was founded in 1918 by silent-film pioneer Thomas H. Ince and has operated under many storied names including DeMille Studios, RKO-Pathé, Selznick International Pictures, and Desilu. Many Golden Age classics were produced on the lot, among them Gone with the Wind, Rebecca, and A Star Is Born, alongside later films like The Matrix and I Am Legend and TV series such as The Andy Griffith Show, Lassie, Scrubs, and Arrested Development. Owned by Hackman Capital Partners since 2014, the studio underwent a roughly $620 million expansion beginning in 2018 that grew the campus to over 720,000 square feet of rentable space while preserving its historic Colonial-style mansion. The facility is operated by The MBS Group and serves as a major West Coast hub for Amazon MGM Studios, IMDb, and Amazon Prime Video.
